First quarterfinal match-up is set between two left-handed players Federico Delbonis and Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open.

Receiving a bye in the opening round, 4th seed Delbonis was forced to a final set against Dudi Sela, but managed to march on with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win. World no.36 from Argentina broke Sela’s serve four times to complete the match after more than a two hours of duty and booked his spot in last eight.

Next up for Delbonis is Ramos-Vinolas, who scored a strong comeback against Russian wildcard Karen Khachanov. 8th seed Spaniard clay court specialist defeated 19-year-old NextGen player Khachanov 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 to reach his second quarter-final of the season.

There was also the excitement of the remaining first round meeting between Illya Marchenko and Maximo Gonzalez. Ukraine’s Marchenko was too strong in the final set against his lucky loser opponent to win 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. He’ll next take on Damir Dzumhur.
