NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

World no.55 Jiri Vesely from Czech Republic had a stunning upset at the Monte Carlo Masters second round defeating ATP leader and defending champion Novak Djokovic in three sets.

Scoring his first top-10 win, Vesely spent 2 hour and 7 minutes knocking out Djokovic 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. This was noted as Djokovic’s second loss in 2016 as his 22 Masters matches winning streak is over.

Vesely will next face 13th seed Gael Monfils to reach the quarterfinals at the Monte Carlo Masters.

Alongside Vesely, two other TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open contenders Damir Dzumhur and Lucas Pouille also had impressive victories. Qualifier Dzumhur beat 6th seed Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 while Pouille was victorious over 9th seed Richard Gasquet with 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
