Italian Paolo Lorenzi is the only seeded player to clinch a victory on the third day of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open.

5th seed Paolo Lorenzi faced qualifier Marco Trungelliti in the second round at Garanti Koza Park. 36 year-old Lorenzi made a solid start to the game and wrapped up the first set 6-2 in 42 minutes. Trungelliti was more competitive in the second but wasted two set points while serving at 5-4. In the end, Lorenzi was the better one and finished the tie break 7-5 to book a place at quarter finals.

Lorenzi, who had back-to-back victories for the first time since January, will seek revenge against Serbian Laslo Djere. The duo’s second round encounter finished 6-4, 6-3 in favour of Djere last year in Istanbul. Lorenzi was victorious in two of their five previous meetings.
