TURKEY FLIES INTO SECOND ROUND

Turkey is through to the second round at the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II after a 3-2 victory over Bulgaria at the Ankara Tennis Club between 4-6 March.

Completing the first day with a 2-0 advantage thanks to Cem Ilkel’s and Marsel Ilhan’s singles wins, Turkey’s Altuna/Ilkel couldn’t avoid the loss after a marathon doubles rubber. But world no.139 Ilhan was again the hero to seal the deal for Crescent-Stars as he extended his winning streak to 11 matches at the Davis Cup singles section.

Turkey Davis Cup Team, consisting Marsel Ilhan, Cem Ilkel, Altug Celikbilek, Tuna Altuna and captained by Haluk Akkoyun, will next play meet Bosnia and Herzegovina away in the second round between 15-17 July.
