Alongside Juan Monaco, there was another champion from Argentina as Federico Delbonis lifted the trophy at the Grand Prix Hassan II being held in Marrakech, Morocco.
25-year-old leftie didn’t drop a set on the route to his second ATP title ending the hopes of Croatian teenager Borna Coric’s first victory. It took one hour and 29 minutes for Delbo to upset 3rd seed Coric 6-2, 6-4, having not broken throughout the match.
Delbonis celebrated his second title, following his maiden triumph more than two years on Sao Paulo clay in 2014. He’s noted as the first Argentine to become the first player from his country to prevail at the tournament since Mariano Puerta in 2005.
Federico Delbonis will climb 11 spots thanks to this success and rose to no. 36 in the rankings, only two behind of his career-high.
