TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open’s second seed Grigor Dimitrov is the first man to advance to the final beating Ivo Karlovic after two tie-break sets.
Bulgarian trailblazer Grigor Dimitrov moved into second final of the year, and eighth in overall in Istanbul. 2nd seed Dimitrov was victorious in two dominant tie-break sets over Ivo Karlovic in the first semifinal at the Garanti Koza Arena.
Both men were unable to break serve, as the only break opportunity was saved by Dimitrov at the fifth game of the opening set throughout the match. In breakers, it was all about former world no.8 Dimitrov.
Dominating the first one 7/0 against Karlovic, Dimitrov was in full control in the second as well. He managed to turn the scales on his side with 7/2 and closed out the match in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
With this win, Dimitrov levelled head-to-head record 2-2 with Karlovic. Grisho, who’s through to second final in 2016 after Sydney, will take on Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman for his fifth title.
