23-year-old Bosnian Damir Dzumhur, no.94 in the ATP rankings, had the best win of his career as he outlasted Rafael Nadal (3-6, 6-4, 3-0 ret.) to reach the third round at the Miami Open.

Despite losing the first set against world no.5, Dzumhur was much more aggresive on his opponent’s serves beginning from the second set. He broke Nadal twice in the second for 6-4 and levelled the sets.

Dzumhur maintained his solid performance in the third and took the 3-0 lead when Rafa was unable to continue. This was noted as Dzumhur’s first win against top 10 in his six attempts, as Nadal retired from a match for the first time in six years.

Qualifier Mikhail Kukushkin awaits Dzumhur next at the second Masters tournament of the season.
