After his nail-biting opener in Istanbul, Grigor Dimitrov had a better day at the office this time to reach the semifinals. Next up for Dimitrov is Ivo Karlovic who survived another duel.

No.2 seed of TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open, Grigor Dimitrov reaches third semi-final of the year. Repeating his 2015 success at the Garanti Koza Arena, Bulgarian star beat 6th seed Czech Jiri Vesely in straight-sets 7-6, 6-1.

Currently-ranked 29th Dimitrov, who was trailing 5-2, made a strong comeback to take it to a breaker. He dominated the crucial game 7/1 to close out the opener, then played a very solid second set. It took 77 minutes for the victory as he improved to a 2-0 head-to-head record against Vesely.

In the post-match press conference, Dimitrov, who is now 17-8 this season, said “In my previous presser, I’d stated that I’d play much better in the next matches. And I’m glad to do that tonight.” 24-year-old Dimitrov will next face 3rd seed Ivo Karlovic.

2.11m tall Karlovic who notched his 300th career win yesterday, battled past Marcel Granollers 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 6-4 in 2 hours and 13 minutes firing 20 aces. It will be a fourth time meeting for Karlovic and Dimitrov, as the giant Croat leads 2-1 on H2H.
