Tunisian veteran Malek Jaziri reached his maiden ATP final at TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open where he will meet another first-time finalist Taro Daniel.
It all came down to two men at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open as two first-time ATP finalists Tunisia’s Malek Jaziri and Japan’s Taro Daniel will face for the championship on Garanti Koza Park.
Following Daniel’s three-sets victory over Jeremy Chardy in the first semi-final of the day, Jaziri made a quick start against his young opponent Laslo Djere. Racing up to a 3-0 lead, world no. 78 Jaziri grabbed the opener 6-3 to move one step closer to the final.
Jaziri, who knocked out Marsel Ilhan, Marin Cilic and Jiri Vesely respectively, was again too strong for Djere in the second. Feeling the fans’ support, he played flawless tennis towards the end, not allowing any breaks to reach 6-2 to complete the match in 1 hour and 31 minutes.
