The excitement is rising for the second edition of TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open, the first and only ATP World Tour event of Turkey, as the entry list is announced. Bernard Tomic and Grigor Dimitrov is are the leading participants in the list where the original cutoff is set as no.93 Damir Dzumhur.
Tomic who’s looking forward for his first Istanbul journey and last year’s semifinalist Dimitrov are followed by 2.11m tall Croatian giant Ivo Karlovic. Currently ranked 34th 37-year-old veteran Karlovic, nicknamed Dr. Ivo, holds the record for most career aces with 10505 and will present the Stambouliotes an ultimate serve fest.
Another former top 10 player like Dimitrov, Argentina’s Juan Monaco, who was forced to pull out at the last minute due to injury in 2015, is registered again for the ATP 250 event. Seven-time singles titles winner on clay Monaco’s citizen Diego Schwartzman who reached his maiden semifinal in Istanbul previous year will step on Garanti Koza Arena again.
Next generation consisting of young talents seems like going to draw huge attention. 1993-born Czech leftie Jiri Vesely, 19-year-old star nominee from South Korea Hyeon Chung and France’s great hope Lucas Pouille will work their magic at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open between 25 April – 1 May.
