The draw ceremony for ATP World Tour 250 event, TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open tournament was held with the attendance of children on the National Sovereignity and Children’s Day of Turkey. Turkish Tennis Federation President Cengiz Durmus, Deputy Chairman of Garanti Koza Board Murat Binark, Tour Manager Miro Bratoev, Tournament Director Stefan Tzvetkov, local favourites Marsel Ilhan and Tuna Altuna were also present in the ceremony.
Top four seeds, Bernard Tomic, Grigor Dimitrov, Ivo Karlovic and Federico Delbonis respectively, will have a bye in the first round of the draw consisting of 28 players. Meanwhile, wild card-handed Turkish players will play Spanish opponents with Ilhan facing Roberto Carballes Baena, and Ilkel to meet 5th seed Marcel Granollers in the opening round.
In-form 6th seed Jiri Vesely will take on Thiemo de Bakker as the Russian tsunami 7th seed Teymuraz Gabashvili to play a tough opener against Damir Dzumhur. Another notable clash is set between 8th seed Albert Ramos and Adrian Mannarino. Last year’s semifinalist Diego Schwartzman will start his Istanbul campaign against fellow countryman Facundo Bagnis.
